I have never understood nor doubt I'll ever be capable of understanding how people don't realize there are two sides to every story and just because something bad happens doesn't mean that we have to blame someone.

Sometimes bad things just happen. To good people, to bad people, to mediocre people, but not because someone was doing something horrible or evil. It just happens. Why can't the rest of the world see this? Am I that different from the average person? Do I have some special ability that enables me to be fair and just until the facts are in?

Sometimes I want to jump to conclusions too, but I have this really annoying habit that even when I want to blame someone, I put myself in their shoes. I guess not everyone else has that ability. Maybe I'm in the wrong for assuming they should.

There I go again.

Four Years Ago Today

Some interesting things I've read thusfar in chapter 3 of the Small Group Process textbook:

Some studies have shown that whenever two people meet for the first time, a dominant-submissive relationship is established within in the first 60 seconds.

Rosen et al. (2000) remind us that if the world were a village of 100 people, there would be 56 Asians, 21 Europeans, 9 Africans, 8 South Americans, and 6 North Americans. There would be 30 Christians, 18 Muslims, 13 Hindus, 6 Buddhists, 5 animists, and 21 without religion.

-------end-------

That was 4 years ago. Interesting, still find it to be true, the first part.

I think that every relationship we form, we are either the dominant or the submissive in the relationship. That's familial relationships, friendships, romantic, work, etc.

I was reading this Red Dwarf group on Facebook that I joined and noticed another group called something like Raised in the 90s in the UK, not the US, so naturally I click on it and start reading what they have to say.

It's this terribly long list of things that they apparently feel are British and have not been Americanized. I mean it even states this in it's mission statement. I'm going to ignore the generic items like My Little Ponies and Polly Pockets, but then they list (and I quote)...

- Clarissa, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Sister Sister...Keenan & Kel!

.......???? And then SCREECH! Ummm....Last time I checked these were ALL American things, not British in any way, shape or form. And in fact, I would think they'd be GLAD to shove these TV shows off on the US because, barring Clarissa Explains It All, they were all utter crap. I am not saying I did not watch them, because oh did I ever, but still, they're crap! CEIA probably is too, I just haven't seen it in 10+ years.

Anyway, that's all.

Me: We could just get some for here.
Leeann: Ok, but our shit don't burn.

Subject: Blank CD-Rs.

I'm still laughing. This was 10 minutes ago.

Root Beer: root or beer?

I have noticed over the last few days that I don't really know too many females that love root beer; it's always the guys. So I started asking around at work, same occurence was happening, the women don't really care for it but the guys love it. Zach loves it, my brothers love it, guys I dated in the past did too. So here is a poll to help me sort this root beer business out. Thank you for your help.

Edit: Wendy, you are not male.

I stayed up entirely too late last night messing with YouTube, trying to get some videos posted. So yes, I've jumped on the bandwagon.

And since I am paying dearly for my decision to show the world my friends, I figure I am required to post the videos here.

Friendsgiving at [info]uhbartender's place. Elizabeth, [info]pickleddeer, James, [info]trainkeeper and [info]pralaya18 going counterclockwise. No idea why I decided to go that way.

Yes, yes, I know you can't really see anything in this one, but that is sorta the point. I think. This video contains [info]trainkeeper and [info]pralaya18 holding hands. *vomit*

Bold the television shows you have seen at least three episodes of and italicize the shows you are certain you've seen every episode of (though I cheated and did both for the ones I have seen every episode of). Add an additional 3 shows not on the list (alphabetically).

Sometimes I think about the guys our society deems as “good for nothing”. You know the type, cheats on his significant other, indulges too much in something he really shouldn’t, whatever it may be, doesn’t really appear to care about anyone but himself.

And then I wonder if they know they belong to that class. I wonder if it has ever occurred to them that they are the ones who give men a bad name.

Then I wonder if their mothers’ know. Do you know your son treats women horribly? Do you know that your son is the boy father’s love to hate?

I also wonder what brings a person to that point, the point where they can treat others with no regard to feelings, physical or emotional alike.

To walk a mile…

Five bands I've recently discovered that you should too:

1. Supersystem
2. Psapp
3. Louis XIV
4. Small Sins
5. Camera Obscura

Oh wait, one more
6. Office

I'd like to thank XM Radio for giving me the gift of new music at a low monthly rate. So I guess it's not exactly a gift, more like a good deal.

You know you need a new job when you're hand is killing you with pre-carpal tunnel symptoms and your boss tells you to suck it up, forget it hurts, and keep on typing. "Eventually it will all hurt, and you won't notice something so small as a hand."

Such concern. And yes, it hurt to type this. I guess I'm a masochist.

It is an incredible feeling when you see a deaf person's face light up the moment they realize you understand them. And you can communicate back. It's an even better feeling when that person doesn't even know English yet, and you are the first person to understand them outside of their classes. Probably a pretty selfish feeling. Still a nice one.

When will people realize that just because something is easy for them, that does not necessarily mean its easy for others. That's foolish and silly. School was always, for the most part, easy for me. Do I believe it is for everyone? No. And on the same note, sports have always been a huge challenge for me, but I'm just not gifted in that area. Humans are such frustrating creatures.
